Product Overview:

The TurboMount is no ordinary lens mount — it is a Canon EF mount with a built-in optical element, i.e. a focal reducer (speed booster). It compresses the image from an EF lens onto a smaller sensor: it widens the field of view by a factor of 0.71× while adding roughly one extra stop of light. On the E2-M4 with its 4/3" sensor, a full-frame EF lens thus produces a field of view corresponding to roughly 1.4x its focal length instead of the usual 2x — a 24mm lens gives a field of view close to 34 mm, not 48 mm. The difference matters most with wide-angle lenses, which are otherwise unusable on a small sensor.

The optics, however, take up the space where the standard EF mount has a slot for a clear filter — the TurboMount therefore has no slot for the Z CAM eND module and cannot be combined with the eND. It is an either/or choice: either the focal reducer or the electronic ND. The electronic contacts remain functional, so the TurboMount passes lens data to the camera and supports autofocus as well as in-lens image stabilization. The lens is secured by a locking ring, just as on the standard Z CAM EF mount.

On the E2-M4 (4/3" sensor), this is the primary scenario: an EF lens behaves as significantly wider. On the Super 35 E2-S6 camera, a full-frame EF lens comes close to its original full-frame field of view. It is not intended for the full-frame E2-F6 and E2-F8 cameras — the reduced image circle will not cover their sensor. It does not belong on the Z CAM E2, E2C, or E2N / E2N Mark II — those have a fixed Micro Four Thirds mount — nor on the P2-R1 PTZ cameras.
